Green Creek series #1- Wolfsong review

Ox was twelve when his daddy taught him a very valuable lesson. He said that Ox wasn’t worth anything and people would never understand him. Then he left.

Ox was sixteen when he met the boy on the road, the boy who talked and talked and talked. Ox found out later the boy hadn’t spoken in almost two years before that day, and that the boy belonged to a family who had moved into the house at the end of the lane.

Ox was seventeen when he found out the boy’s secret, and it painted the world around him in colors of red and orange and violet, of Alpha and Beta and Omega.

Ox was twenty-three when murder came to town and tore a hole in his head and heart. The boy chased after the monster with revenge in his bloodred eyes, leaving Ox behind to pick up the pieces.

It’s been three years since that fateful day–and the boy is back. Except now he’s a man, and Ox can no longer ignore the song that howls between them.

Hi everyone! reporting back after a few intense days reading this jewel by T.J. Klune. Imagine if you were just a 10 year-old child. You went through terrible things. But the stormed already passed, now, is time to heal. You and your family decide to come home. The first day you arrive, you can´t help but smell a scent of something beautiful. A sixteen year old boy, who smells of pine cones, candy canes of epic and awesome. You decide that he´s the guy for you. Even then, you know.

That´s just life for Joe Bennett, the youngest of three children, who lives with his parents and uncle. He might be young, but he´s destined for greater things, he would be the next Alpha. He was chosen.

Dumb as an Ox, his father said after leaving and never turning back. Oxnard was big and stupid, he can barely keep up with his grades and he worked for a kind man, Gordo to help his mother pay the taxes. He was nothing special, he was going to get shit all his life, or at least, that´s what he thought.

This two great and intense forces, meet and change each other´s world forever. Ox opens his eyes to a world of werewolves and songs. He forms and intense bond with each one in the family. Then the most terrible thing happens, and they are parted. Ox is left to survive with destroyed pieces, he´s angry but that just makes him stronger. He might be human, but he runs with wolves. The pack always comes first, is what keeps him bonded to humanity.

Joe´s been away for a long time, he almost looses himself in the rage and revenge. He stops talking. Until one day, he catches that scent again, of pine cones, candy canes of epic and awesome. And this time, he´s not letting go.

T. J. Klune´s words are able to make you feel the bonds they have between them outside the page. It´s magic. When I read this book, I felt I was part of the pack too, their connections grew inside me too. I could almost inhale the pine cones, the candy canes, the epic and awesome. Each character has a complexity inside of them and is marvelous. The book might be long but it doesn´t feel so. Every one of us should feel lucky to be able to join this characters on this amazing journey.

Well, I hope that my words were enough to convince you to read this book. Trust me, you won´t regret it. I´m of to read the next book in the series, Ravensong. Soon, I´ll post my review on it. Here I´ll leave you the whole series.
