Green Creek Series #2 Ravensong by TJ Klune-Review

Gordo Livingstone never forgot the lessons carved into his skin. Hardened by the betrayal of a pack who left him behind, he sought solace in the garage in his tiny mountain town, vowing never again to involve himself in the affairs of wolves.

It should have been enough.

And it was, until the wolves came back, and with them, Mark Bennett. In the end, they faced the beast together as a pack… and won.

Now, a year later, Gordo has found himself once again the witch of the Bennett pack. Green Creek has settled after the death of Richard Collins, and Gordo constantly struggles to ignore Mark and the song that howls between them.

But time is running out. Something is coming. And this time, it’s crawling from within.

Some bonds, no matter how strong, were made to be broken.

After two days of an intense reading session with a tissue box at my side, I’m proud to say, I finally finished Ravensong!

This book, is the sequel to Wolfsong and the second in the Green Creek series writen by TJ Klune.

WARNING the next article contains spoilers of Wolfsong by TJ Klune. Proceed under your own risk.

Unlike Wolfsong, this time, we follow someone very different than Ox who just sees the world in black and white. This time we follow Gordo Livingstone, an already beloved character although, his past wasn’t well known. He sees the world in shades of gray, life threw some nasty things at him but, he got his share of sins too.

Gordo is darker, he has history with the Bennetts and he feels so much rage. Toward Thomas, Elizabeth, his father, Mark, himself. Mark, who once told him he felt leaves and dirt and rain around him who stalked him as a child. Thair history, their bond is still there, even though Gordo doesn’t want to see it. The rest of the pack can feel it too. Now leaded by Ox and Joe, we get to see yet again their wonderful dynamic and unevitable chemistry. The feeling packpackpack is still there. We already know their song, is time to listen to Gordo’s.

The pack is changing again, everything is falling apart and the Bennett pack has to be strong yet again. They suffered a lot, Gordo has been through a lot but that, only makes him stronguer. There’s nothing he wouldn’t do for the safety of the pack. To get back home, to Mark, oh Mark God knew he hated him but in this world of Alphas, Betas and Omegas their song howls louder than ever and this time, he can’t deny it. But, will their love strong enough? After all this years, can they be together? Is their bond meant to be broken?

Most people, will tell you they liked Wolfsong better. I’m part of that group too. Because, in the previous book, even though we suffer, we always get the feeling of packpackpack and homehomehome. Joe and Ox are young and innocent they are new and pure. Gordo and Mark are different they’ve been through three packs that broke apart, they were old, too much time passed between them. This story is harsh, it show us that life can be ugly too. And that’s okay. We take it and embrace it like Mark and Gordo do. Maybe we like better a story of home and pinecones, candycanes, epic and awesome but, some leaves and dirt and rain are nedeed to.

Again, TJ Klune, steals my heart with his magnificent words that make me feel part of the pack again.
