This is the story of Mara and her twin Owen. They are the best of friends, and they always have been there for each other. For years, when everything was down, Mara knew that Owen was the one thing she could always believe in.
But one day, something happens that breaks the girl’s world apart: Hannah, Owen’s girlfriend and one of Mara’s best friends, acuses him of the worst thing a guy can do to a girl: rape.
After this turn of events, Mara being a victim of abuse herself, is not sure what or who to believe any more.
This is a raw story that shows us the most human dilema of humanity: choosing between what’s right and what’s easy.
Personally, I liked this book more than I ever thought I would, Mara’s story is worth reading. And I consider this one of those books that should be read in schools and to everyone who wants to listen. Is trully a ver human and relatable story that at the same time, manages to show us the point of view of the victims and the rapists without any filter, how a person can remain the same but change abruptly in a loved ones eyes and most importantly, the importance of standing up and even if its not easy, and it hurts, say the worlds: I believe you.
Hope you open this book, read it, and see the world differently when you finish it.
