As many of you already know, during June tons of people all over the world celebrate #pridemonth. Many do through social media using the tag and posting stories and photos. Others, organize riots to commemorate those made 50 years ago at Stonewall New York. The reader community, also celebrate this colorful month by reading and sharing their favorite lgbtq+ books and that’s what I’m going to do for you.
1. WOLFSONG by T.J. Klune
This is a story of love, friendship and family. It follows Ox, a sixteen-year old kid who meets a boy in the road that belongs to a family who keeps a big secret… I don’t want to tell you much of this one so you discover it by yourselves but be ready to live an very intense and carnal story that will melt your heart. After you read it, you can check my full review of it here :).
2. AUTOBOYOGRAPHY by Christina Lauren
This is a rather heart-light story that follows Tanner a openly bisexual guy who has to re-enter the closet when he moves to the conservative state of Utah. One day, he gets sick of being hidden so, he accepts a challenge from his best friend Autum, who dares him to make a move on the guy he’s in love with. Sebastian Brother, a Mormon prodigy. This book defies some the unacceptance that some religious people have.
3. THE GENTLEMAN’S GUIDE TO VICE AND VIRTUE by Mackenzie Lee
This historical fiction novel is about Monty, the son of an important family who is rather troubled. He takes wiskey for breakfast and parties all night. To stop this behaviour, his family sends him to a tour through Europe expecting, when he comes back for him to take over the family legacy. With this preassure, Monty has to cope with his intelligent and insistent sister Felicity, and his best friend Percy, who he has a terrible crush for.
In this article I decided not to include already well known books like Simon vs the Homo Sapiens Agenda, Red, White and Royal Blue or The song of Achilles because I wanted to diffund less popular books. Also, I decided not to include books that make part of series like Red Scrolls of Magic, although I love them. Enjoy the readings!
